Why Do Children Bully?
Bullying occurs for lots of different reasons but we have to remember that the main things that kids are involved in a social context.
So kids form unique groups of friends and when they do it also makes them form whatâs called a social ladder and on that social ladder kids divide themselves into 3 groups. There a popular group, thereâs that middle group with most kids and thereâs that bottom group.
All kids want to do everything they can to get themselves into the middle or top group because the bottom group is most vulnerable to bullying and kids test out aggressiveness when kids try to move between groups to make sure someone is always below them.
So thatâs what bullying is really about, we have to be really aware that social groups start at early ages and we have to teach kids that being on top is not necessarily the only thing that matters but thatâs why bullying occurs.
